Call for Ideas: 87 project proposals to support the Nomination format for Bassano, Italian Capital of Culture 2029. Mayor Nicola Finco: "An outstanding result that testifies to the cultural liveliness of our city"
There are 87 project proposals received in recent days as part of the “Call for Ideas”, an invitation issued by the municipal administration to all those interested in participating in the construction of the nomination format for Bassano del Grappa as Italian Capital of Culture 2029.
The meetings of May and July with the working groups gathered at the Civic Museum, the Youth Agenda Panel and the spontaneous proposals of citizens and groups eager to make a contribution to the Bassano of tomorrow, have produced a first important result in numbers and now all the ideas will be carefully evaluated in the light of the overall framework of the nomination and related to the guidelines of the dossier, so as to bring out recurring themes, possible connections and useful contributions for the construction of the program.
At a first glance, the proposed projects give an articulated framework, both for the variety of issues they address and for the plurality of subjects they cater to and there are many proposals that interpret culture as a lever to trigger broader processes, linked to the regeneration of spaces, participation, accessibility, youth, the productive world and the relationship between Bassano and the territory.
“From the beginning – says the mayor of Bassano del Grappa, Nicola Finco – our task has been to listen and collect the ideas born from the territory, involving associations, citizens and all those who have actively participated in this first phase. The high number of projects received testifies to the great work done in the preliminary phase and the sharing of the objectives of the nomination. This result also represents a great responsibility towards those who have dedicated time and passion to the project. In the coming months we will work with the utmost commitment to present the best possible proposal: not a dream book, but a genuine and authentic project, which is an expression of Bassano del Grappa, its history and its identity and which, above all, knows how to give a clear direction for the future”.

reason.
The city holds – together with the famous Palladian bridge – the largest collection of works by Antonio Canova in the world together with Possagno, as well as the most important public collection of works by Jacopo Bassano and his workshop. The Civic Museums, among the oldest in Veneto and founded in 1828, also preserve a heritage that spans the centuries and testifies to the richness of the local and national artistic tradition: from Guariento to Lorenzo Lotto, from Artemisia Gentileschi to Giambattista Tiepolo and Francesco Hayez, next to the famous Remondini graphic collections and Bassano ceramics.
